An exhibition titled "Languages of War" is opening at the Khanenko Museum. The works will be displayed in the empty halls of the Khanenko Museum, which have been vacant since the start of the full-scale invasion. "Languages of War" is a joint project of the Khanenko Museum and the Odesa National Fine Art Museum.
The exhibition will feature works by Evhen Bala, Vasia Dmytryk, and Mykola Lukin, which reflect on the theme of the "languages of war" and its manifestations in our daily lives. According to the director of the Khanenko Museum, Yulia Vahanova, the mutual "rescue" of Ukrainian museums during the full-scale war lies not only in the physical protection of collections but also in programmatic cooperation.
"Attention to the uniqueness of each individual institution, care, highlighting each other will allow us to get to know our own institutions better, support each other, and in this dialogue create new expressions," says the director of the Khanenko Museum.
The exhibition will showcase a series of graphic works, sculptures, and installations. For example, the series of readymade sculptures by artist Evhen Bala represents the "archeology of the Ukrainian zero," as commented by the exhibition curator Kyrylo Lipatov, as they are made from fragments of Russian weapons.
The exhibition will run from October 7 to November 26, 2023.
