At the border between Ukraine and Poland, there are queues of 2,000 trucks, according to a statement by Andriy Demchenko, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, on January 5th.
"The blocking of the border crossings Rava-Ruska-Khrebenne, Krakovets-Korchova, Yahodyn-Dorohusk continues. According to the information from the Polish border guards, as of the morning, 1,400 trucks are in line on these three routes towards Ukraine. In addition, on the morning of January 4, the movement of trucks was again blocked on the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint, with 600 trucks waiting in line in the morning," he said.
Demchenko reported that truck traffic on this route during the past day remained "intensive," but a decrease in the number of trucks crossing the border is not excluded in the future.
On other sections of the border, there are no blockages for trucks. A line of trucks towards Ukraine is only recorded on the territory of Slovakia. As of the morning, towards Ukraine on the Uzhgorod checkpoint, 100 trucks were expected to pass, Demchenko clarified.
On January 4, Polish farmers from the organization "Subcarpathian Deceived Village" resumed blocking the Polish-Ukrainian checkpoint "Medyka – Shehyni." Farmers began blocking the checkpoint on November 23, 2023, and stopped the action on the eve of Christmas – December 24.
