Based on evidence from the Security Service of Ukraine, four associates of former MP Medvedchuk, who were plotting the forcible seizure of power in Ukraine, have been sentenced to prison terms.

Among the convicted individuals is a Russian citizen and a military intelligence officer by profession, who was in direct contact with representatives of the Russian presidential administration and the country's special services.

The culprits planned to "synchronize" the state coup with the start of a full-scale Russian invasion. They hoped to assist the aggressor in rapidly occupying Ukraine.

According to the investigation, they intended to seize power through controlled public organizations in Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine.

These pro-Kremlin groups were supposed to initiate the holding of so-called "national assemblies" in the capital of Ukraine.

During this "forum," its organizers planned to "approve a resolution" regarding the "removal from power" of the top military and political leadership of Ukraine.

In case of refusal, the culprits planned to resort to a "force scenario." For this purpose, they were forming their own "combat wing," attempting to involve up to five hundred armed individuals.

To identify "candidates," they used their own connections among supporters of radical views.

However, the Security Service acted preemptively and prevented the implementation of these illegal actions. As a result of a multi-stage special operation, SSU agents timely exposed the organizers of the crime, documented their subversive activities, and detained them at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

Based on the collected evidence, the court found the culprits guilty under Article 109, Part 1, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power) and sentenced the Russian citizen to 10 years, the organizer of the crime to 7 years, and two of his accomplices to 5 years of imprisonment.
