In Lviv, the construction of a Eurotrack for freight and passenger transportation between Ukraine and European Union countries will begin, as reported by the Lviv Regional State Administration.
On the section from Mostyska to Sknyliv, it is necessary to reconstruct 72.9 km of the 1520 mm gauge to the 1435 mm gauge. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will assist in modernizing the section from Mostyska to Sknyliv.
"I would like to add that this is an extremely important project that will ensure efficient international railway communication between Poland, European Union countries, and Ukraine. Sknyliv Station will become an international railway hub. It was chosen for the development of the hub to avoid overloading Lviv Station, through which most domestic trains pass," said Maxim Kozytsky, the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
The track will be used for freight and passenger transportation between Ukraine and European Union countries.
"As of today, this section already has technical and economic justification and project cost estimates, and the project is undergoing environmental impact assessment. Discussions are also underway with investors regarding the next stages of project implementation," noted Orest Shulikovsky, Director of the Road Economy Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
