Ukraine is ready for creative solutions to facilitate the return of captives. Among the Russian captives are those whose return is of interest to the leadership of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, in a telethon.
"The main thing for Ukraine is to achieve results. To accomplish this, intermediaries are involved, and this time Ukraine is grateful to the United Arab Emirates. But the list is very broad, and we are ready to expand and increase it to the maximum. The tools can vary, and we are prepared for the most creative solutions," said Yusev.
He added that the key in the exchange process is the interest of both sides. As known, Russia is slowing down this process and is not in a hurry to return captives. However, according to the intelligence officer, the so-called elections in Russia are influencing this exchange process.
When asked if there are individuals in whom Russia is interested for exchange, Yusov responded, "Yes."
"Yes, and the number of such individuals is increasing. Of course, the exchange process, especially the negotiation process, is an extremely delicate matter, closed and non-public. In most cases, commenting on it is inappropriate and can be harmful... Yes, among the Russian captives, there are individuals who are of great interest not only to Russian society but also to the Russian military-political leadership," added the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
