Russian military, compared to February, has doubled the drops of ammunition with chemical substances from Mavic drones, said the spokesperson of the Joint Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Ukrainian People's Republic "Tavria" Dmitry Lykhoviy during a telethon broadcast.
"Such a practice (the use of ammunition with chemical substances - ed.) by the enemy is observed day by day. Five drops of ammunition with tear-inducing choking chemical substances were recorded yesterday. The total number of such drops is constantly increasing. Compared to last month, their use has almost doubled," he said.
According to Lykhoviy, "to counter Mavic drones, from which chemical ammunition is dropped, electronic warfare means are needed."
"Gas masks seemed to be relics of the First World War, but unfortunately, in our 21st-century war, the reality is such that we need to defend ourselves with them as well," he added.
Earlier, on February 20, the commander of the operational-strategic grouping of troops "Tavria" Alexander Tarnavsky stated that Russian forces had resumed the use of poisonous substances in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions.
