In Ternopil, as a result of a Russian drone attack by Geran on a five-story building, the number of injured has increased to four, and a 45-year-old man has died.
This was reported during a briefing by the head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Nehoda.
"This is a targeted strike by the enemy on a residential building, continuing the civilian terror. The 'Geran' drone attacked a five-story building in Ternopil. One person has died—a 45-year-old resident of Ternopil, and his wife is seriously injured. Three other residents of the building have also been injured," Nehoda said.
The 94 residents of the building were promptly evacuated and placed in nearby shelters. A mobile point of invincibility was set up at the scene, and psychologists from the State Emergency Service and police were also involved.
Most of the windows in the building that was hit and in a nearby school were damaged, as well as cars parked near the building. Work is underway to assess the suitability of the building for further use and the extent of the damage. The building has been disconnected from utilities.
"After the technical condition of the damaged entrance and the entire building is assessed, a decision will be made about allowing people to return. As for the three apartments that were affected by the strike, we, together with the city authorities, will decide where to place the residents. Preliminary decisions suggest that they will be able to stay in one of the hotels in Ternopil, unless they have other preferences," the head of the regional administration noted.
