Due to the damage to the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant, approximately 20% of the regulating capacity of Ukrhydroenergo has been lost. Assessments of the losses are ongoing.

This was reported by the CEO of Ukrhydroenergo, Ihor Syrota.

Syrota mentioned that Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant is not generating electricity, and the timeframe for resuming operations is currently unknown. However, he also noted that certain tests are being conducted.

"It's obvious that there is equipment that will not be repairable and will need replacement. We understand that this equipment is custom-made, and the manufacturing lead time is quite long. But regarding the equipment that will require replacement and major repairs, we can provide more information later," said the CEO of Ukrhydroenergo.

As of 20:00 on March 22:

🔹In the morning from 04:10 to 7:00, Russian rockets attacked the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Station in the city of Zaporizhzhia.

🔹Emergency services and the State Emergency Service promptly arrived at the station. The fire at the affected facility was localized around 8:00.

🔹The situation at the DniproHPS dam is under control. There is no threat of dam breach. The extent of the damage requires thorough inspection.

🔹As a result of several missile strikes on the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Station, electrical equipment and hydro turbines were affected, and a significant amount of building structures were damaged. The station is not operational.

🔹There are no casualties among the employees of the DniproHPS.

🔹Ukrhydroenergo is taking all possible measures to release water downstream along the Dnipro River.

🔹Regarding the consequences, hydroelectric power plays a key role in regulating peak loads. In terms of the operation of the energy system, Ukraine has lost more than 1000 MW of regulating capacity. Compensatory mechanisms will be found for supplying energy to consumers. However, in the current situation of constant terrorist attacks on energy facilities, these are serious losses for the energy system.

🔹Ukrhydroenergo will be able to provide a preliminary assessment of the consequences in a few days.

🔹Discussions are already underway with international partners and financial institutions to mobilize assistance for the restoration of the DniproHPS.

🔹Ukrhydroenergo draws the attention of the international community to the need for swift decisions and decisive actions. The destruction of the Kakhovka HPP and the terrorist attack on the DniproHPS require holding the Russian side accountable for deliberate attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
