Former prisoner of war, combatant Vladimir Fomitsky won a trial against the Russian Federation. The fighter's claim was satisfied by the Dolgintsevsky District Court of Kryvyi Rih.

Radio Svoboda writes about it.

The court decided to recover from the Russian Federation and the Joint-Stock Company "International Reserve Bank" (formerly Sberbank) in favor of Vladimir Fomitsky one million hryvnias in compensation for non-pecuniary damage.

The court decision has already entered into force, the plaintiff received the relevant document. The appeal period has expired.

Dmitry Chernesh, the lawyer of the former fighter, said that he and Vladimir Fomitsky decided to sue both the state of the Russian Federation, represented by its embassy in Ukraine, and the Russian bank, which could actually pay the funds. The legal proceedings lasted almost two years.

“Now we will implement the decision of the court in practice. The executive bodies must ensure the implementation of this decision, wherever this money is, even around the world. Mechanisms are enough. Now, any citizen of Ukraine who has suffered from Russian aggression can follow the same path,” Dmitry Chernesh said.

A participant in the hostilities in the Donbas, Vladimir Fomitsky from Kryvyi Rih is a volunteer of the Kryvbas battalion. As he said, he was captured by Russian security forces when he was leaving the Ilovaisky Cauldron in 2014.

He was held hostage by the Russian hybrid forces for ten days. After his dismissal, Vladimir Fomitsky was declared unfit for military service. He also filed a lawsuit against the aggressor state with the European Court of Human Rights.
