Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Marchenko, who has been in charge of the defense of Nikolaev since February 24, predicts a successful counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the liberation of the occupied territories by the end of summer, provided that Ukraine is provided with all the necessary weapons.
He stated this in an interview with Marchenko "Krym.Realii"
“Perhaps my information is not enough to predict this. But the fact that this will not end quickly is a fact. But then again: they will give us all the weapons that we need, the counteroffensive will probably end by the end of the summer. Somewhere in there we lose in time, let them dig in more, yes, it will be longer. Here … I never undertook to predict. I never thought that we would stand against such a number of troops that was in Mykolaiv. To be honest, I firmly believed that we will be locked in a cauldron, and we will fight there, well, you see, it worked out,†Marchenko said.
The general believes that in the matter of negotiations with Russia, the "point of no return" has been passed because of the war crimes of the occupiers. But Ukraine got a unique chance to defend its independence and ensure the future of a free country.
