Ukraine’s Defense Forces have carried out strikes against a number of Russian military and military-industrial targets, including two tankers, a tugboat, a Russian patrol vessel, an oil terminal, a fuel depot and the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Russia’s Yaroslavl region, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
According to the statement, the strikes were conducted on July 16 and during the night of July 17, 2026, as part of efforts to reduce Russia’s military and economic capacity.
Ukrainian forces hit two Russian tankers, including a gas carrier, and a tugboat in the waters of the Black and Azov seas. The General Staff said the vessels are used to transport Russian oil, petroleum products and liquefied gas in order to circumvent international sanctions, as well as to supply fuel for Russia’s armed forces.
A Russian Project 10410 “Svetlyak”-class patrol ship was also targeted in Kerch, occupied Crimea. The vessels of this class are designed for maritime patrol missions, escort operations and support of naval and security forces, according to the Ukrainian military.
Other reported targets included the “TES-Terminal-1” oil terminal and a fuel and lubricants storage facility in Kerch, as well as the “Shakhtarsk” oil depot in Shakhtarsk, Donetsk region.
The Ukrainian military also reported strikes on transport infrastructure used by Russian forces for military logistics. These included a railway bridge over the Kalmius River near Staromarivka in Donetsk region and a road bridge near Kozynе in Russia’s Kursk region.
A major strike was also carried out against the “Slavneft-YANOS” oil refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia. The General Staff said the facility was hit, causing a fire at the site.
“Slavneft-YANOS” is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries and the biggest refinery in the central part of the country. It processes around 15 million tonnes of crude oil annually and produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, lubricants, bitumen and other petroleum products, including those used by Russia’s military-industrial sector and armed forces.
Ukraine also reported strikes on a Russian logistics storage facility near Pokrovsk and a command and observation post near Novotroitske in Donetsk region.
The General Staff said the extent of the damage and the results of the strikes are still being assessed. Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue operations aimed at weakening Russia’s ability to sustain its war effort, the statement added.
