At the meeting between the team of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure and the Mayor of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher, the priority areas for Ukraine's recovery and the possibility of involving German businesses in reconstruction were presented.
The main focus now is on the energy sector, particularly replacing destroyed generating equipment with modern ones and protecting energy facilities. Strengthening logistic routes for economic recovery is also among the priorities.
Germany collaborates with Ukraine at the municipal and regional levels. This model has already proven its effectiveness in obtaining humanitarian aid, reconstruction, investments, and regional development. Since the start of Russia's large-scale invasion, municipal partnerships have facilitated the establishment of operational channels for supplying necessary assistance from the Federal Republic of Germany to affected cities.
Since February 2022, the number of interregional associations has increased to 200. Active cooperation continues with Dnipro, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv.
"We are grateful to all German cities that help Ukrainian sister cities and partners overcome the consequences of the war. With such support, our communities and municipalities will have opportunities for sustainable development and the restoration of damaged infrastructure to meet people's basic needs. The development of municipalities and regions in Ukraine will be one of the agenda items at the annual Ukraine Recovery Conference, which will take place in Berlin in June," said Vice Prime Minister for Ukraine's Recovery - Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.
