Italy will send Ukraine emergency energy aid following another series of Russian strikes on the country’s civilian infrastructure.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said this during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the Italian government website.

During the conversation, Meloni expressed Italy’s solidarity with Ukraine amid the latest indiscriminate Russian attacks on civilian targets and stated that emergency assistance would be provided to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and population.

“The generators supplied by Italian companies will be sent to Ukraine in the coming weeks,” she said.

Meloni also confirmed her support for the ongoing negotiation process and the U.S. commitment to finding a path toward a fair and lasting peace.

“The repeatedly confirmed readiness of Ukraine to sit at the negotiating table is key to this process. It was therefore confirmed that there is hope Russia will show a similar openness,” the Italian Prime Minister added.
