Ukraine is turning innovations into real defense capabilities through cooperation between the state, science, and manufacturers.

This was stated by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Hvozdiyar during the opening of the 14th International Festival of Innovative Projects Sikorsky Challenge 2025, held at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.”

“Modern war is a competition of innovations. Victory goes to those who think faster, experiment, and create new solutions for the front. Ukraine proves this every day thanks to engineers, military personnel, and scientists working together,” said Hanna Hvozdiyar.

This year, the Sikorsky Challenge festival brought together participants from various sectors, including students, representatives of defense companies and startups, as well as civil and public institutions. The main focus was innovations in defense – developments that help the Ukrainian military maintain technological superiority on the battlefield.

According to Hanna Hvozdiyar, since the start of the full-scale war, the scientific community has been actively involved in developing defense technologies.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense is working to strengthen collaboration between manufacturers, developers, and engineers within Ukraine’s defense industry ZBROYA. Career events are held at KPI and other universities where students interact with manufacturers, learn about defense professions, and receive their first internships.

“In Ukraine, a scientific force is being formed that creates and protects. Today, the state provides trust and opportunities to everyone who creates something new,” concluded the Deputy Minister of Defense.
