Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a former DPR militant who wanted to be called up for military service in the combat unit of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation established that the defendant was a native of the Donetsk region in the criminal proceedings. In 2019, he took an oath of allegiance to the so-called "DPR" and, during the year, served in the military as part of one of the illegal armed groups of this terrorist organization.
He then entered the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities in transit through Russia. And at the end of 2021, he voluntarily applied to the local military enlistment office to join the Armed Forces.
Prior to that, he had to study in one of the units of the assault troops near Zhytomyr. However, thanks to the work of the SSU in advance, he was exposed and prevented from entering the ranks of the Armed Forces. The attacker is currently detained.
SSU investigators informed him of the suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 258-3 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization) and Part 2 of Art. 260 (participation in the activities of illegal armed groups) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The real goal of the participant's "ardent desire" to serve in the army in Ukraine is also established. Among other things, the links of the ex-militant with the pseudo-special services of the so-called "DPR" and the probability of his cooperation with them are monitored.
A special operation to expose the perpetrator was conducted by counterintelligence and SSU investigators in the Zhytomyr region under the procedural guidance of the Zhytomyr Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the military and defense sphere of the Central region.
