A Ukrainian-Polish Cooperation Center has been opened in Zhytomyr to implement joint projects in science, education, entrepreneurship, and other fields.
According to the Zhytomyr City Council, the Center was established at Polissia National University under a memorandum between the university and the NGO Zhytomyr Regional Union of Poles in Ukraine.
Zhytomyr region has the largest population of ethnic Poles in Ukraine, with active Polish institutions and enterprises operating with Polish investment. Polissia National University also runs joint international projects, grants, and research with Polish partners.
The cooperation will develop in the fields of science, education, culture, spirituality, grant activities, and business. The first academic and educational event of the Center took place immediately after the opening — a discussion panel marking the 85th anniversary of the Katyn tragedy, held as part of the 17th Polish Culture Days in Ukraine. Speakers included scholar Ryszard Stefaniak, researcher Adrian Lesiakowski from Poland’s Institute of National Remembrance, and Valerii Filimonikhin, scientific secretary of the Bykivnia Graves memorial complex.
