An advisory board on urban planning, architecture and restoration of architectural monuments of Odessa is going to be formed by the initiative of the Odessa City Hall, in parthership with the University of Studies of Genoa.
According to the press service of the Odessa City Council, the new advisory board will be headed by the Director of the Department of architecture and design of the University of Studies of Genoa, professor Niccoló Casiddu.
This issue was discussed at an online meeting, which was organised by the personal adviser to the mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov and "ambassador of Odessa in Italy" Attilio Malliani, with the assistance of the former consular correspondent of the Italian Embassy in Kyiv Vincenzo Esposito, owner of the Odessa firm ROSS INVEST and, until 2019, co-owner of the Opera Prestige club on Posmitnogo street.
It was decided that after the definition of the objects and their schedule, Odessa specialists will prepare the necessary documentation and archive materials for detailed study by the Italian Athenaeum and the preparation of appropriate recommendations. During the dialogue, it was noted that the history of the creation of Odessa is of great interest to study, especially the creations of Italian masters.
This project will be not only architectural and construction, but educational in nature: senior undergraduate and graduate students of the University of Genoa will be involved in studying the cultural and architectural heritage of Odessa and developing ideas for the development of public spaces in our city.
Prof. Niccoló Casiddu, University of Genoa
It is worth reminding that Genoa is a Sister City of Odessa since 1972.
