The international community has enough tools to compel Russia to end the war, but it must change its approach, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha believes.
“Two goals are crucial at this stage of this war. First, to abandon our own illusions. Second, to deprive the enemy of illusions. Putin will have to stop this war when two factors are in place: he won’t have the illusion that he can somehow eventually win on the battlefield; the price of continuing the war for him and his regime will exceed the price of stopping it. Collectively, the international community has enough capacity to force Russia to end this war. What we need is a turn from “as long as it takes” to “as strong as it gets ,” Sybiha wrote on X.
He stressed that the modern arms race is no longer about nuclear weapons, but about millions of inexpensive drones. Those who can scale up production faster will secure peace.
“This requires quick and sufficient funding for Ukraine’s defense industry, which is now the greatest source of defense innovation in the world. We can produce up to 20 million drones next year if we get sufficient funding. We are in a race against time. Both in resources and technology. We need to achieve parity and advantage to make Putin stop the war,” he concluded.
