Armed clashes have broken out between the Armed Forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan following the shelling of Azerbaijani army positions in the Agdam region. This information was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As a result of regular shelling of Azerbaijani army positions in the Karabakh region, as well as the laying of mines, creation of additional fortifications, and firing positions by the Armenian army, Azerbaijan reserves the right to take radical measures in response.

Therefore, in order to prevent illegal actions by the Armed Forces of Armenia, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan has declared the implementation of local anti-terrorism measures in the region to ensure constitutional order.

To achieve the goals of the operation, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan will carry out a series of precision strikes on military infrastructure objects in Armenia, positions along the front line of troops, permanent firing points, as well as military facilities.

In addition, the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation and the leadership of the Joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Center have been informed about the operation.

Currently, there are reports of the first losses of equipment by the Armed Forces of Armenia, and footage of the destruction of air defense systems and electronic warfare systems is being released.

To conduct precision strikes on military objects and infrastructure, the Ground Forces of Azerbaijan are using short-range ballistic missiles of Israeli origin called LORA, with a range of up to 500 km to engage targets.

In addition, the Ground Forces are also using the following artillery systems:

  • 306mm Extra Range Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) with a range of up to 150 km.
  • 301mm Polonez and Polonez-M MLRS with a range of up to 300 km.
  • 302mm TRG-300 Kasirga MLRS with a range of up to 100 km.

For targeting objectives at distances of up to 1000 km, the Azerbaijani Ground Forces are employing Israeli-produced kamikaze drones called Harop. These drones can be used for group attacks and can stay airborne for up to 9 hours, providing extended autonomy for target acquisition.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the counterterrorism operation began after a series of shelling incidents on Azerbaijani positions and a terrorist attack on a road in the Khodjavend region of Azerbaijan, resulting in the deaths of two civilians and four Ministry of Internal Affairs personnel.
