The "Kinzhal" ballistic missiles are considered one of Putin's "superweapons," and Russia has heavily relied on their purported invincibility. However, Ukrainian air defense successfully counters this threat, according to the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain, citing intelligence data.

The AS-24 Killjoy (NATO classification for the "Kinzhal" missile) is one of six "superweapons" declared by President Putin in 2018, intended to play a crucial role in Russia's future military doctrine. In the war in Ukraine, Russia has reserved this weapon for what it deems valuable and well-protected targets," as stated in the intelligence report.

It is noted that on December 14, Russian Aerospace Forces likely used the "Kinzhal" ballistic missile for the first time since August 2023. British intelligence reports that Russia launched at least one missile targeting central Ukraine, possibly aimed at a military airfield.

Moreover, Russia had previously deployed such missiles.

"Many of its launches have likely missed their intended targets, while Ukraine has also succeeded in intercepting attacks by this supposedly ‘undefeatable’ system," as highlighted in British intelligence.
