Bulgaria initiates transfer of 100 APCs to Ukraine

Bulgaria has started the transfer of 100 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, a decision for which was made in July of last year.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Bulgaria, Todor Tagarev, on Facebook.

"The operation is ongoing. The Ministry of Defense supports the process of providing Ukraine with armored personnel carriers," he wrote.

• On April 11, the Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria confirmed negotiations about transferring MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, with the condition of receiving more modern combat aircraft from Western partners.

• On June 6, the Minister of Defense, Todor Tagarev, stated that the new government of Bulgaria is ready to provide military assistance to Ukraine. However, on June 20, President Rumen Radev mentioned that participating in supplying Ukraine with ammunition would be a mistake.

• On June 21, the Bulgarian government announced a new aid package, including weapons and ammunition from Bulgaria's stocks, which do not need to be purchased.

• On June 27, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria adopted a new package of military and military-technical assistance to Ukraine.

• On July 14, Bulgaria officially announced the transfer of heavy weaponry to Ukraine, marking the largest single package of military aid from the country.

• On July 21, after extensive debates, the Bulgarian Parliament supported the delivery of armored personnel carriers to Ukraine from the stocks.
