Czechia will continue its ammunition initiative until peace is achieved and plans to deliver 1.8 million shells to Ukraine by the end of the year.
This was stated by Czech President Petr Pavel during a briefing following talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Prague.
Pavel noted that the “Czech initiative” is currently financially supported by 11 countries, with pledges and commitments in place through the end of the year.
“If everything proceeds as agreed, we will be able to deliver 1.8 million units of large-caliber ammunition by the end of the year,” said the Czech leader.
He added that negotiations are already underway regarding the next phase.
Czechia will continue to support Ukraine to ensure its strength on the battlefield, Pavel said. According to him, thanks to the “Czech initiative,” the ammunition gap between Russia and Ukraine has been narrowed—from a ratio of 10:1 to approximately 2:1.
“And we will keep supplying (ammunition) for as long as necessary—until a just peace is achieved for Ukraine,” the Czech president declared.
He believes this initiative is “one of the ways to make Russia understand that there is no point in continuing the aggression, as it will not achieve its goals.”
According to Pavel, the Kremlin’s attempts to subjugate all of Ukraine could lead to the war lasting for several more years.
At the same time, he warned that if Russia succeeds in this war, it will have direct consequences for other countries, including Czechia.
