President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz.

The Head of State thanked him for the support and assistance provided to the Ukrainian people and the country. The President noted that Germany is one of the global leaders in protecting lives, and Ukraine values this.

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the key task at present is missiles for Patriot systems that protect Ukrainians from Russian ballistic attacks. During the conversation, they primarily discussed the possibility of supporting Ukrainian Patriot systems with the necessary missiles. According to the President, Russia is making a final bet on missile strikes against Ukraine, as it has no other options left to prolong the war.

Zelensky and Merz also discussed the situation on the front line. The President informed him about ongoing developments and results. He noted that on the eve of the Independence Day of the United States, the Russian leader chose to mislead the world and the President of the United States regarding the situation at the front, falsely claiming that Russian forces had captured Kostiantynivka in Donbas.

“This is, of course, not true — it is just another piece of Russian misinformation meant to generate headlines. If Kostiantynivka is really under Russian control, then Putin should have no problem meeting me there and finding diplomatic solutions to finally end the war. But he will not cross the front line: the truth is very different from Putin’s words,” the President emphasized.
