The Czech Republic will strengthen support for companies doing business with or in Ukraine.
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš announced this at a briefing following a government meeting.
According to the prime minister, the government reviewed a proposal from the Ministries of Industry and Trade and Finance to redistribute funds within the state export guarantee and insurance company EGAP, allowing the successful program supporting Czech exporters supplying goods to Ukraine to continue.
“The capital allocated for the so-called Support Fund for Czech business entities in Ukraine will be increased from the current 639 million Czech korunas to 1 billion korunas (from approximately UAH 1.35 billion to UAH 2.11 billion ). This increase will not affect budget expenditures,” Babiš said.
Earlier, it was reported that Prime Minister Babiš met with Czech entrepreneurs to discuss their current activities in Ukraine and areas where the government could provide assistance. Together with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček, he also discussed financing opportunities — not only through EGAP in the Czech Republic (the export-import insurance system), but also within the framework of the European Union.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is preparing a business mission to Ukraine for the autumn.
