In the autumn, the number of assault actions by Russian forces increased on the southern front, particularly in the Orikhiv sector, although all breakthrough attempts were unsuccessful.
This was reported on air by Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn.
“When talking about when there were more attacks, enemy activity somewhat increased in the autumn,” Voloshyn said.
Specifically, he noted that in the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces recently attempted a massive assault, deploying units up to platoon strength. However, Ukrainian intelligence detected the attack preparations in time, and the Defense Forces struck Russian equipment while it was still in its initial positions.
“The enemy had no success and only suffered losses, which were quite significant — about 150 personnel and around 30 units of equipment. These were losses from just one attack,” Voloshyn added.
Russian forces have also intensified assault actions on the southern front, particularly near Stepnohirsk and around the Antonivsky Bridges, attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses and push Defense Forces units from their positions.
“The situation is quite tense along the contact line in the settlements of Kamianske, Stepnohirsk, Plavni, and Prymorske. Over the past day, the enemy conducted several assaults trying to advance toward Stepnohirsk. In addition, they are carrying out infiltration operations, attempting to secretly penetrate behind our positions. Our fighters conduct search-and-strike operations and eliminate such enemy groups,” Voloshyn said.
According to the spokesperson, the situation remains tense in the Dnipro direction as well, where Russian forces make multiple daily assault attempts near the Antonivsky Bridges, trying to dislodge Ukrainian units from held positions.
