The Danish government has allocated 130 million Danish kroner (over 16 million euros) to support Ukraine's energy system.
This was announced by the press service of Denmark's Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Utilities.
“Putin's army is not only crossing into Ukrainian territory; Russia is violating the rules of war with its massive attacks on Ukraine's electricity and heating systems. Winter is approaching, and many Ukrainian homes will be without heat and electricity. Moreover, ordinary workers in the energy sector, who diligently perform their jobs, are being targeted. We must do everything we can to make the Ukrainian energy system as strong as possible,” says Lars Aagaard, Minister for Climate, Energy, and Utilities.
The Danish donation is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' reconstruction support and aims to contribute to urgent measures and the procurement of equipment and spare parts to assist in restoring energy supply security. The support is being implemented in cooperation with UNDP, the Energy Community, the Danish Refugee Council, and the Danish Red Cross.
