During the night of June 6 (beginning at 6:00 p.m. on June 5), the Russian forces launched an attack using 272 strike UAVs, including Shahed drones (among them jet-powered variants), Gerbera and Italmas drones, “Banderol” loitering munitions, and Parodiya decoy drones. The attack was launched from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Millerovo in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The air assault was repelled by fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 8:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or suppressed 249 UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones, across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.
Direct hits by 19 strike UAVs were recorded at 11 locations. In addition, debris from intercepted drones fell at 13 locations.
