The project DigiUni "Digital University - Open Ukrainian Initiative" has been launched. The project is an EU initiative aimed at developing higher education in Ukraine in the conditions of martial law and post-war recovery. The goal of DigiUni is to provide continuous, quality, inclusive, and transparent education regardless of the location of students and teachers, using digital innovations.
DigiUni also aims to support students who continue their studies in Ukraine during the martial law. Additionally, the project will contribute to strengthening the connections between Ukrainian universities, their students, and teachers who have been forced to leave Ukraine.
On March 25th, in Kyiv, an inaugural meeting was held with representatives of universities and organizations from France, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Poland, as well as 10 Ukrainian university members of the consortium, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, and the Ukrainian Association of IT Professionals. During the meeting, they discussed the specifics of project implementation, timelines, and results for each stage, as well as the content and plan for conducting trainings and other planned events until 2027.
It is worth noting that in 2023, the European Commission opened a special window of opportunities for Ukraine within the Erasmus+ program in response to the challenges faced by Ukrainian higher education due to the full-scale invasion. As a result of a special competition, the DigiUni project was selected for funding under the EU Erasmus+ program. The project was first presented on October 11th, 2023.
