The Palm Dog Award is presented in Cannes to the best dog in a film festival. Launched in 2001 by journalist Toby Rose, inspired by his own French fox terrier, Mattley.
The favorite of Ukrainians Patron, who, together with the team of the State Emergency Service, demines the Chernihiv region, was awarded the PalmDogManitarian award for the connection between humanity and dogs.
The Patron owner, the head of the group of pyrotechnic works and underwater demining of the State Emergency Service in Chernihiv region Mykhailo Iliev recorded a video address in which he and the Patron thanked for the prize.
"Thank you for the award! We would love to visit Cannes with Patron, but he has a lot of work to do here. We want to thank the world for helping Ukraine. And if anyone is hesitant to help us with weapons, know that the more weapons we have, the less time our enemy has to mine our territory. Sappers of Ukraine are grateful for the attention to our mascot Patron. We are glad that his courage charges the whole world to be brave as well." - Mykhailo Iliev, Head of the Pyrotechnic Works and Underwater Demining Group of the State Emergency Service in the Chernihiv region.
The award was given to Kateryna Tretyakova, a member of the team of the Ukrainian National Pavilion in Cannes.
