Ukraine exported 1.9 million tons of wheat to Egypt between July and May of the 2024/25 marketing year, surpassing the 1.6 million tons shipped over the same period last season, according to ASAP Agri.
Egypt’s share of total Ukrainian wheat exports rose from 10% to 13% year-over-year. An additional 200,000 tons were shipped between June 1 and 22, indicating that total wheat exports to Egypt for the 2024/25 marketing year will exceed 2.1 million tons—up from 1.7 million tons in the full 2023/24 season.
Analysts project that this volume will allow Egypt to retain its position as the second-largest buyer of Ukrainian wheat.
As of June 20, demand prices for Ukrainian food-grade wheat with 11.5% protein stood at $235 per ton (CIF Egypt), compared to around $232 per ton at the same time last year.
Despite these high volumes, Egypt reduced its total wheat imports by 30% in the first half of 2025, from 7.1 million tons to 4.9 million tons, following large-scale purchases in the latter half of 2024.
