The opponents started by exchanging breaks. Then, for a while, Svitolina and Parry focused on holding their own serves. The crucial moment came in the seventh game, where the Ukrainian player secured a break point on her first attempt.

Gaining a point on the French player's serve gave Svitolina a strategic advantage, which she capitalized on two games later. On her own serve, Ukraine's top seed converted a set point on her second attempt.

In the second set, Svitolina started more aggressively. With one break, she led 3-1 by the middle of the set. The opponents then exchanged breaks. In the tenth game, Svitolina couldn't close out the match, allowing Parry to come back and force a tiebreak. However, the more experienced Svitolina easily won the tiebreak.

In the next round, the Ukrainian player will face the winner of the match between Romanian Ana Bogdan and neutral Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. They are scheduled to play on the evening of May 30, weather permitting. The tentative date for the third round is May 31
