ENGinGov" is a joint language initiative project by Future Perfect and the civic organization ENGin. Thanks to ENGinGov, young public servants will be able to communicate with English-speaking volunteers from various countries around the world to improve their spoken English skills. The results of the 2023 survey demonstrate that public servants specifically highlighted the need to develop conversational skills for communication with international institutions and the opportunity not only to gain foreign experience but also to share Ukrainian experiences.
"We need to talk about Ukraine to the world, defend our interests, negotiate support, engage foreign expertise, and share our own. Clearly and confidently communicating in global communications now is our need and obligation. That's why it's so important to provide public servants with practical English conversation practice and encourage them to further utilize these skills in practice," said Valeriya Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration.
Participants in the programme can be civil servants and local government officials aged 18 to 35. ENGinGov will help them:
- Improve language skills in professional and social topics.
- Gain experience communicating with foreign volunteers.
- Be inspired for further language learning.
"This project aims to support those who directly influence the functioning of the state and civil society. The sooner we make changes at the local level through our main programme, the sooner we can move to larger community levels. I hope that these young people, despite the various challenges of public service, will continue their dedicated work and will be able to improve their qualifications through this subprogramme, which will lead to changes in the future," said Mykola Popadiuk, Director of the ENGin programme in Ukraine.
The ENGinGov programme is designed for three months to achieve significant progress for participants. The project is aimed not only at improving the level of English but also at expanding communication horizons for Ukrainian public servants, promoting professional growth, and supporting Ukraine's international relations.
The Future Perfect language programme is implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, with the support of the USAID / UK Aid project "Transparency and Accountability in Public Administration and Services / TAPAS" and the East Europe Foundation. The project's partner is the international technology company Mastercard
