The Swiss Federal Council has approved funding for eight new projects by Swiss companies aimed at supporting Ukraine’s recovery and strengthening its resilience, with total financing of CHF 135 million.
The Ministry of Economy and Environment of Ukraine announced the decision.
The decision was adopted on October 2, the ministry said. The new projects cover three strategically important sectors: energy, public transport and water management.
The initiatives were selected through a competitive process among Swiss companies with branches or representative offices in Ukraine. Companies were invited to submit project proposals worth between CHF 3 million and CHF 30 million. Successful applicants are required to co-finance at least 10% of the project cost from their own funds.
The projects were assessed according to criteria jointly established by the Ukrainian and Swiss sides. The final list was drawn up in cooperation with the Ukrainian government.
“For Ukraine, this is an important example of partnership in which international support is combined with business investment, modern technologies and expertise. Such projects help not only to restore critical infrastructure, but also to create jobs, develop Ukrainian communities and strengthen the ability of our economy to operate and grow even during the war,” Deputy Economy Minister Yehor Perelyhin said.
The projects are expected to have a long-term economic impact. In particular, they will help preserve and create jobs, develop the professional skills of Ukrainian specialists and transfer Swiss expertise through targeted training and practical cooperation.
For Swiss businesses, participation in these projects creates opportunities to strengthen existing partnerships in Ukraine and expand their presence in the Ukrainian market.
