Five cemeteries were found in the Izyum district of the Kharkiv region, where civilians and soldiers who died due to Russian aggression are buried.
This was stated by Oleg Kotenko, Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, reports TSN.ua.
"We have 5 cemeteries where there are burials. There are children among the dead. For example, it is known about one of the 64 buried people that these people were in the basement of a residential building that was hit," Kotenko said.
According to him, the exhumation has already begun at the cemetery, where the burial of civilians and military was found today, September 16, at about 9 am. When asked how long it would last, Kotenko replied that it would depend on how long the police investigators needed.
"A lot of investigators came," Kotenko summed up.
Earlier, the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Igor Klymenko, said that approximately 445 graves of civilians were found near Izyum. Law enforcement officers found two bodies with their ears cut off and shot with a firearm. They have not yet been identified.
The Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko, said that a mass grave with more than 400 bodies of people was found in a cemetery in the forest near the city of Izyum, Kharkiv region, liberated from the invaders.
