In the fall of 2021, Florence + the Machine shot three music videos in Kyiv. The first, "King", was released on February 23, the day before the war.
The following "Heaven Is Here" is in March, and now the singer has released a video for the song Free, which is "dedicated to the spirit, creativity, and perseverance of our brave Ukrainian friends."
In the first frame, it is noted that in the video, Florence Welch plays herself, and in the role of her concern is the actor Bill Nighy ("Pirates of the Caribbean", "Rock Wave").
Among the locations of the clip, the building of the Kyiv National University and the Kyiv Crematorium are recognizable, in the finale the heroes hug and look at the columbarium. The clip was shot on November 18, 2021 with Ukrainian specialists (including the Radioaktive Film production team), "whose radiant freedom will never fade."
This is not the first time Florence Welch has supported Ukraine in this way. Releasing a video for the song "Heaven Is Here", she told about two dancers, Marina and Anastasia, who were in shelter at the time of release. The singer said she "loves them and wants to hug them."
Free, as well as previously released songs "King", "Heaven Is Here" and "My Love" will be included on Florence + the Machine's first album in four years called Dance Fever.
