In Kherson, a city recovering from the occupation by Russian forces and striving to continue its life despite constant shelling, the Kherson Film Fest will be held for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
A total of ten films will be screened at the festival, including seven feature-length films and three short films. Among them will be both new Ukrainian movies and international ones.
The initiators of the event are Alexander Kniga, the General Director, and Artistic Director of the Kulish Kherson Regional Academic Theater, and Yuriy Koval, the head of the "Yuveliy" cinema-concert hall. Together with film journalist and festival program director Alex Malishenko, and project producer Anastasiia Larina, they will present new Ukrainian and foreign films to the Kherson audience.
"The artistic life of Kherson cannot be stopped. The emergence of a new festival in the city is a sign of the restoration of the public and cultural environment. Its enrichment with new, life-affirming meanings and references. We are invincible and free, and we have a lot of work ahead of us to restore the city," stated Alexander Kniga.
The Kherson Film Festival will take place in mid-August.
Admission to all screenings is free, with registration through social media. For safety reasons, the exact time and location are not publicly disclosed.
The festival is held with the support of the Department of Humanitarian Policy Implementation of the Kherson Regional Administration.
