The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to take a loan from France for the construction of patrol boats for the Maritime Guard of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
The borrowing should be provided by the Minister of Finance Sergey Marchenko. The advance payment for the construction of twenty boats, almost UAH 690 million, was paid by the State Border Guard Service in 2020.
According to the contract, the next payment (from credit funds) must be made in 2021. To continue construction, Ukraine must pay almost UAH 850 million.
On November 19, 2019, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov signed a contract in Paris with the French company OCEA for the purchase of 20 patrol boats for the Maritime Guard. The contract value is Euro 136.5 million. 85% is credit funds of commercial banks and a treasury loan from the French Ministry of Finance, 15% will be paid by the Ukrainian side.
15 boats will be built in France, five more at the Nikolaev shipbuilding company Nibulon. The contract price also includes service maintenance, training of the crew and technical personnel, components and spare parts for two years of service.
The length of the French boats of the FPB-98 type is 32 meters, the crew is 13 people, the maximum speed is 35 knots (65 km / h), the cruising range is 1200 miles at a speed of 12 knots.
At the end of February, the French built the first hull, now there are five more boats at the OCEA plant at different stages of construction.
