Georgia, taking into account the national interests of the country and the interests of the people, does not plan to join the economic and financial sanctions of the West against Russia. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated this.
This (the imposition of sanctions - ed.) will cause even more harm to our country and our people

The head of the Cabinet also says that he sees no need to hold a meeting of the National Security Council and an extraordinary session of parliament.
When asked if he plans to visit Kyiv as a sign of solidarity, Garibashvili noted that the airspace of Ukraine is now closed.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that new sanctions are being introduced against Russian banks whose assets amount to at least one trillion dollars. Among them is VTB Bank. In addition, the US will limit Russia's ability to do business in dollars, euros, pounds, and yen and will reduce imports of high-tech products into the country by 50%. Restrictions will also affect Russian industry and the space industry. Sanctions are also being imposed against individual officials, big businessmen, and families.
