"The Ministry of Defense should ensure timely and full provision of quality individual protection equipment for the military. To achieve this, the Procurement Policy Department of the Ministry is working on improving procurement rules, which should lead to increased competition among suppliers to the Armed Forces," stated Hlib Kanevskyi, the head of the Procurement Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, during a meeting with representatives of NFM Group (Kingdom of Norway).
The parties discussed the possibilities of supplying NFM products to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. NFM Group is a Norwegian manufacturer of individual protection equipment for military personnel.
"The Ministry of Defense is the largest investor in Ukraine's defense industry. The procurement agencies of the ministry purchase billions of hryvnias worth of weaponry and logistical property. Currently, there is an opportunity for existing domestic manufacturers to expand their business, and for foreign companies to localize their production in Ukraine," emphasized Hlib Kanevskyi.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has submitted to the State Defense Procurement Operator a list and volumes of necessary purchases, as well as budget allocations for 12 months. This will allow businesses to better plan their work. In addition, the Ministry of Defense recently invited new manufacturers of body armor, helmets, and goggles to cooperate.
Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Defense Procurement Operator also participated in the meeting with NFM Group.
Hlib Kanevskyi: Right now, there is an opportunity for foreign defense companies to localize their production in Ukraine." -
