Honduras plans to purchase drones from Ukraine, according to President Nasry Asfura.
“We are talking about drones for border protection, for their effective security, and for combating organized crime using high-tech equipment,” Asfura said.
He also noted that Honduras could use Ukrainian drones in agriculture.
Last week, Asfura visited Kyiv on his first official trip. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that his country make use of Ukraine’s experience in drone technology.
Ukraine widely uses drones in combat operations. Honduras, in turn, faces a serious problem of violent crime. The country records 24 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, four times higher than the global average. This is driven by drug trafficking, street gangs, and corruption within law enforcement agencies.

Nasry Asfura took office as president in January this year. He has repeatedly expressed support for Ukraine and, prior to his visit to Kyiv, held a phone call with Zelenskyy to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation.
Zelenskyy has previously announced that Ukraine plans to open drone exports but will supply them only to countries that support Kyiv. He also stated that Ukraine is ready to share drone technologies and operational experience. The country currently has around 800 arms manufacturers, many of which have significantly expanded production. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is expected to produce at least 10 million drones by the end of 2026, with potential to double that figure.
Previously, Ukraine and Latvia signed an agreement on joint drone production. In May, Romanian President Nicușor Dan said that Bucharest and Kyiv would complete negotiations on joint UAV production in the coming months. Zelenskyy has also announced a “Big Drone Deal” with Canada.
