Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with a delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the States General (Parliament) of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Ihor Zhovkva thanked the Dutch Parliament for making important decisions to help Ukraine and grant our country the status of a candidate for EU membership.

"Ukraine is grateful for the significant assistance provided by the Dutch Parliament in countering Russian armed aggression: financial, economic, humanitarian, military, and political. The decision of the Parliament in support of granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership was of particular importance. The voice of the Netherlands played one of the crucial roles in securing a consensus in the European Council on this issue," Ihor Zhovkva emphasized.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office briefed the Dutch MPs on the current security situation in Ukraine and called for increased support for our country in key areas, including the supply of weapons.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the practical implementation of President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula, which will serve as a guarantee of security for the European continent.

"Ukraine strives for just peace in the classical sense of the word from the point of view of international law, which means depriving Russia of any tools to commit aggressive actions against another state," Ihor Zhovkva noted.

Special attention was paid to Ukraine's progress on the European integration path and the results of the recent EU-Ukraine Summit.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office informed the foreign parliamentarians in detail on the progress of implementation of seven recommendations of the European Commission and the state of implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

"Ukraine is finalizing the implementation of all seven recommendations of the European Commission. The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU is 72% implemented, and we continue to move along this path towards its full implementation. We expect an interim positive assessment from the EU this spring and an announcement of the start of accession negotiations by the end of this year. We count on the support of the Netherlands, as Ukraine's accession to the EU is an integral part of our victory in the war against Russia," Ihor Zhovkva summarized.
