At the 2024 Olympics, the final gymnastics competition determined the best athletes in the parallel bars event. The 20-year-old Cherkasy native Illia Kovtun won a silver medal, reports Ukrinform.
Kovtun's score was 15.500 points.
The winner was Chinese gymnast Jinyan Zhou, with a score of 16.200 points. Japanese gymnast Shinnosuke Oka came in third with a score of 15.300.
This is Kovtun's second Olympics. At the 2020 Games in Tokyo, he finished 11th in the individual all-around and seventh in the team competition. Another Ukrainian gymnast, 30-year-old Oleg Verniaiev, finished eighth in this final.
