At a concert at the Southbank Centre in London dedicated to Ukrainian music, three distinct and contrasting pieces of Ukrainian symphonic music were presented.
This was announced by the chief conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Kirill Karabits, on Facebook.
"This was the first in history a fully Ukrainian symphonic program presented to the British audiences at the Royal Festival Hall by a British orchestra," he noted.
The programme included a London premiere of “Terricone” by a Ukrainian female (and Donbass born) composer Anna Korsun, the piece was commissioned by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in 2023.
"Symbolically our performance happened shortly ahead of the Peace Summit (initiated by the president which I personally hugely support," added Karabits.
As previously reported, Kirill Karabits, the chief conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, was awarded an honorary Order of the British Empire by King Charles for his contributions to music and the popularization of symphonic works from Ukraine and Eastern Europe in the United Kingdom.
