The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania has issued a "firm protest" to Russia regarding the entry of drone debris into the country's airspace. They have also summoned the Russian Ambassador and are consulting with NATO regarding the developments at the Romania-Ukraine border, including today's incident. Furthermore, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on Moscow to halt attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. This information was reported by Digi 24, citing the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the night of September 3 to 4, Russia launched a mass drone attack on the south of Ukraine using Iranian kamikaze drones. According to border guards, some of these drones crashed and exploded on the territory of Romania, a NATO member country. Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, stated that there is photographic evidence of the drone crashes in Romania.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania has stated that the drone attacks carried out by Russia did not pose a direct military threat to their national territory or territorial waters. On September 5, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, stated that neither Russian drones nor any related debris fell on the country's territory.

OSINT analysts determined that a Russian drone crashed on the territory of Romania near one of the border villages.

On September 6, the Minister of Defense of Romania, Anghel Tilvar, confirmed that the ministry's team had discovered possible fragments of a Russian drone on the country's territory. Romania informed NATO about the discovered fragments, which appeared to be from a Russian military drone. The Alliance expressed its support and stated that it is monitoring the situation.

On September 12, it was reported that the Romanian Ministry of Defense had begun constructing shelters for the population in the village of Plauru, located near the Ukrainian city of Izmail.
