Operatives of the Security Service discovered a place of illegal detention of people in the recently liberated village of Lypka in Kharkiv region. The execution house, which the invaders called the "basement", was set up in the premises where the so-called "people's militia of the Lugansk People's Republic" was stationed.
The fighters of this terrorist organization and the Russian military illegally imprisoned local residents who supported Ukraine's territorial integrity and refused to cooperate with the enemy.
According to the SBU, the Russians brutally tortured the prisoners, after which they were forcibly taken to the territory of the Russian Federation
As part of the previously initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigative and operative actions are ongoing to establish the entire range of persons who suffered from torture by the occupiers, as well as all war criminals involved in the abuse of the civilian population.
All the collected evidence of war crimes committed by Russian servicemen will later be handed over to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, so that no war criminal escapes responsibility.
Detection and documentation of illegal activity were carried out by SBU employees in the Kharkiv region together with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Dergachev district prosecutor's office of the Kharkiv region.
