On the night of August 9, the Lipetsk region came under a massive drone attack from Ukraine, according to the region's governor, Igor Artamonov. One of the drones targeted a military airfield.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), a fire broke out there, classified as a "third-degree" fire. A Level 3 alert indicates a "complex situation" requiring additional resources.

Amidst this, the governor reported the "detonation of explosive objects," which occurred "far from civilian buildings." To manage the aftermath of the explosions, an emergency regime was introduced in the Lipetsk Municipal District. Additionally, the regional authorities announced the evacuation of settlements near the airfield.

"To ensure the safety of residents, it was decided to evacuate the settlements of Koptsovye Khutora, Fedorovka, Yakovlevka, and Tynkovka," Artamonov stated. According to him, 416 households are within the evacuation zone.

However, "some residents have decided not to leave their homes and are taking shelter in basements," Artamonov clarified.

The fall of one of the drones also damaged an energy infrastructure facility, leading to power supply disruptions, including in Lipetsk itself. Passenger transportation in the district and city was temporarily halted. During the drone attack in the Lipetsk region, six people were injured and hospitalized, Artamonov added.
