Intense Russian assaults impact Kherson, Donetsk, Sumy, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Kyiv regions

On June 8 and 9, Russian forces intensified their attacks across several Ukrainian regions, resulting in multiple injuries, destruction of civilian infrastructure, and widespread disruption.

Kherson Region
In the Kherson region, four people were injured amid ongoing Russian strikes, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional State Administration. The affected areas include Kherson city and numerous surrounding communities such as Antonivka, Beryslav, Mykilske, Bilozerka, and others. Russian forces launched drone attacks, artillery shelling, and airstrikes, damaging three apartment buildings, 13 private houses, a utility structure, and private vehicles. Despite the damage, Prokudin confirmed there were no fatalities.

Donetsk Region
The Donetsk region experienced further aggression on the morning of June 9 when Russian forces struck Sloviansk. Vadym Liakh, head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, reported damage to houses, garages, and a kindergarten on Vokzalna Street. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this strike. However, on June 8, one resident of the Donetsk region was killed and five others wounded during Russian attacks, according to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

Sumy Region
The Sumy region faced nearly 90 strikes on 35 settlements from June 8 to June 9, leading to nine injuries. The Nedryhailiv community was hit hardest, with seven people wounded, including a pregnant woman, following a strike by a Lancet loitering munition. Two more were injured in the Esman community by an FPV drone attack. Russian troops launched multiple rocket strikes, guided aerial bombs, and drone attacks, with Sumy and Shostka districts suffering the most.

Cherkasy Region
Cherkasy’s air defense forces actively repelled Russian aggression, shooting down 33 UAVs overnight, as reported by Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration. While no injuries were recorded, debris caused damage to four houses, a utility building, and a car. Additionally, a forest fire covering two hectares was ignited but has since been extinguished.

Dnipropetrovsk Region
Dnipropetrovsk region saw sustained drone and artillery attacks overnight and into the morning. Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, confirmed that Nikopol, Marganets, Pokrovska, and Malomyhailivka communities were targeted. The attacks damaged transport vehicles, private homes, and caused a fire in a utility building in the Samarivskyi district, which firefighters quickly extinguished. Six enemy drones were shot down during the assaults.

Poltava Region
In Poltava’s Myrhorod district, debris from a downed Russian drone damaged a power line during the night. Volodymyr Kohut, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that energy workers restored electricity swiftly using backup lines, with further repairs planned throughout the day.

Kyiv Region
On June 9, a Russian airstrike in the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region damaged a private house, a car, and an outbuilding. Kyiv Regional Police confirmed the damage but reported no casualties as of the morning.
