Israel is studying samples of Russian attack drones received from Ukraine, including new variants of the Geran series, according to former Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky. Speaking to journalists during a meeting at Israel's Foreign Ministry, Brodsky confirmed that the two countries are cooperating on the examination of weapons used in the war.

Asked whether Israel had requested samples of Russia's new Geran-5 jet-powered drone from Ukraine, the former ambassador confirmed that such cooperation was taking place.

"Without going into details, this cooperation is taking place. We have received weapons samples for examination," he said.

Brodsky confirmed that Israel had obtained certain weapons samples from Ukraine but declined to disclose further details of the cooperation.

He explained that Israel's interest stems from concerns that similar technologies and weapons could eventually be acquired by armed groups fighting against Israel.

"Jet-powered drones are currently the number one problem for the entire world. Whoever finds an effective solution first will gain a significant advantage, and others will begin adopting that solution," Brodsky said.

According to the former ambassador, Israel is actively developing countermeasures against such UAVs, including laser-based systems and other counter-drone technologies.

However, he acknowledged that no universally effective solution has yet been developed.
