Italy will provide Ukraine with another SAMP/T air and missile defense system as part of the eleventh military aid package.

This was reported by the Italian publication Formiche.

According to the publication, the package includes 400 M113 tracked vehicles, ammunition, and the SAMP/T air defense system, which is considered essential to counter ongoing Russian missile attacks.

Additionally, Italy will continue to provide satellite support for monitoring Russian troop movements, using its aerospace network in coordination with NATO. If the journalists' information is confirmed, this system will become Ukraine’s third SAMP/T system.

The first system was jointly delivered by France and Italy. Its transfer was agreed upon in February 2023, with its actual deployment in Ukraine reported in June 2023.

The second system was delivered without France’s participation. In May 2024, the Italian government included an additional battery of the SAMP/T air defense system in a new military aid package for Ukraine. In September of the same year, Italy’s defense minister announced that the system would arrive in Ukraine “by the end of the month.”

Based on previous experience with receiving these systems, the actual arrival of this new system in Ukraine can be expected in autumn 2025.
