A "window of opportunity" to end Russia’s war against Ukraine could open in early or mid-February 2026.
This was stated by Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in an interview with 24 Kanal.
“We will be approaching this ‘window of opportunity.’ In winter, let me put it this way, our window will open again in mid-February. All relevant events will take place from early to mid-February,” Budanov said.
At the same time, he declined to provide details, noting that it would be inappropriate.
Budanov also stated that without the intervention of U.S. President Donald Trump, the chance of stopping the fighting is currently minimal.
“Who is he (Trump) for us?… Without his intervention, I don’t think there is a chance to stop the fighting, as of now,” he said.
